Weald & Downland Living Museum Heritage Crafts Event

Step back in time at the Weald & Downland Living Museum. From the moment you enter history comes alive as it feels like stepping back in time to multiple time periods. With centuries old buildings spanning from 950 AD to the 19th century telling the stories of the people who lived and worked in them. I remember coming here on school trips as a child and it always being one of my favourites.

I was invited* to the Weald & Downland Living Museum‘s recent Heritage Crafts Event which celebrated traditional skills and crafts. Much of these crafts are rarely taught or even practised these days and it’s important to preserve them for future generations and for history as much as possible. I’m such a craft enthusiast so I was really excited to watch artisans at work, from Basket Weaving, to Blacksmithing, Wood carving, Pottery, Clog Making, Stained Glass, Lacemaking, Elizabethan Musical Instrument making and so much more. It was incredible to see! There was also traditional bookbinding on the day prior to the one I visited and I was sad to miss that.

I would love to hear if you have you ever visited the Weald & Downland Living Museum?

The Museum is located in Chichester, West Sussex. Find out more information on the Weald & Downland Living Museum and events they have coming up here
